Puppy Obedience

Puppy Obedience This class is designed after the American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen Program. This program is designed to test the handler and the animal in the open public and demonstrated that the animal can be well behaved and not be a problem to society. This class allows the handler to demonstrate their ability to give the dog commands and that the animal will respond. The class is 5 weeks long and at the end of training you will be tested, and provided you and your animal pass, you will be awarded the "Certificate of Completion" from VFK-9 Training Center. These classes are offered several times year and are on a first come basis. Please call for details

Basic Obedience

Basic Obedience Class covers all of the basic commands, how to apply and give a correction (accompanied with positive reinforcement), correct terminology, and proper instruction on how and what type of training equipment to use and basic canine maintenance. This class is for the beginning handler dog team. It is 10 weeks long and at completion the team will be awarded the "Certificate of Graduation" from the VFK-9 Training Center.

Intermediate Obedience

Intermediate Obedience is the next step in basic obedience techniques. It is perfect for those "New Dog/Old Handler" situations where "My Old Dog Never Did That" or " My Other Dog Doesn't Do That". This does not mean that you have to have more than one dog to attend but it is just a refresher and maybe some different ideas on how to train. It will cover some Off Leash Training and Long Distance Verbal and Hand signal commands. In order to attend this class you must have graduated a prior Basic Obedience Class (just present a certificate of completion) and pass an evaluation. This class is 10 weeks long and at the completion you and your dog will be tested and awarded the "Certificate of Graduation".

Advanced Obedience

The Advanced obedience classes are for graduates of the Intermediate obedience classes or after being evaluated by the Staff. In advanced obedience we offer strict OFF LEASH standards that incorporate Control and confidence of you and your animal under several distracting life like, everyday situations. These Classes are scheduled in advance and are limited to 10 teams. During these sessions there are 2 instructors present to constantly evaluate and clean up the minor discrepancies. Private Lessons

VFK9 offers private lessons that can be conducted in your home or at a near by area location. During these classes we cover everything that is offered in the group classes, as well as special needs animals that have aggression problems or difficulties adapting to the class environment. The benefit of private lessons is that you have an individual trainer. While attending private lessons, you and your dog will receive ONE-ON-ONE, attention which increases the amount of quality instruction you will receive. Privates are available upon request and scheduled through Heath.
